Book Review on Writing Memoir

41tTA+-1A-L._SY344_PJlook-inside-v2,TopRight,1,0_SH20_BO1,204,203,200_“There are thousands of books on the subject of writing, and many of those are about memoir. In my mind, only a few stand shoulders above the rest. Handling the Truth: On the Writing of Memoir by Beth Kephart is one of these and a fine addition to any aspiring memoirist’s reference library.”

I’ve written about memoir writing before (here) and I think Handling the Truth covers many of the issues I spoke about in that post. It is one of the best books on the subject of writing in this form that I’ve read. Well worth your read.  For more of the review click here

I grew up in Oregon and learned not everything is black and white. Now I live in the jungles of Costa Rica where the shades of gray cover the full spectrum. I shoot my mouth off on my blog, social media sites, and sometimes I get published. You can find my blog here: https://scmorgancom.wordpress.com/

  1. I’m so glad to have found you (through Richard Gilbert’s blog). I’ll definitely read “Handling the Truth,” and I’ve subscribed to your blog.

I dug around a bit and found your essay on the Kingfisher. I’m looking forward to reading more of your writing.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Tracy. I love the serendipitous nature of the blogosphere and so glad you found me. I adore Gilbert’s blog. And I thought Kephart’s book was a real gem (as you can probably tell from my review). Hope you find it as useful and poignant as I did. I haven’t written on my blog for a good long spell now, but maybe your kind commets are just the impetus I need to return to writing. Bless you.
